Pelagic fish shoals are located with the help of echo-sounding equipment. From the echogram it is possible to estimate the depth and the size of the shoal. The net is towed behind the ship just below the water surface or further down the water column, but does not reach the sea bed. Pelagic fishing gear is constantly undergoing further improvements to ensure a responsible fishery through better selectivity. Special measures and aids – such as large mesh sizes in the front part of the net – are being developed to prevent the catch of un-wanted species or undersized juvenile fish.

SUSTAINABILITY
The fishery is strictly controlled by the Mozambique fisheries department. The octopus is collected by subsistence fisherman. The fisherman dive for the octopus using their bare hands to harvest their catch. They operate in the intertidal zone, where if weather conditions permit, they will dive 12-15 days per month. Each diver may catch between 2-10kg per day.
300-500- TA – Aprox 30 to 35%
500-800 T7 – Aprox 30 to 35%
800-1200 T6 – Aprox 15%
1200-1500 T5 – Aprox 5%
1500-2000 T4 – Aprox 5%
2000-3000 T3 – Aprox 5%
3000-4000 T2 – Aprox 5%
4000 up T1 – Aprox 5%

If we push the fishermen to bring more big sizes, it will result in indiscriminate fishing resulting in faster depletion of resources. Hence as a part of commitment to sustainability of the resource, environment and all stakeholders in the supply chain, we receive all grades natural assortment as brought by fishermen.
Since the fishery is highly regulated, the catches are sustainable. Current markets are Italy, Spain, France and Portugal.

- Shrimp Farms
- Contracted Fishing Boats for Sea Caught shrimps
- Focused on both Farmed and Sea Caught Shrimp.
Our Process
- Sampling is done one to two days before harvesting to get an idea of size and then on harvesting day during the middle of the harvest to know the exact count.
- Harvesting is done early morning and gets completed before mid-day.
- The harvested shrimp is quickly dipped in iced water for chill killing, also it removes any bottom sediments and mud which ensures good quality
- Then they are dipped in sodium meta bi sulphate to clean the material and preserved in ice for transporting to the packing centers where they are further prepared for shipment to far areas
- The treated Shrimp is dropped into drain nets and weighed in 25 kg lots. The lots are then packed into crates with 3 layers of ice in between and loaded into an insulated truck immediately.
- Once the shrimp is received at the factory it is washed and graded.
- The Shrimp is weighed again for uniformity and set into trays for freezing.
- Our Shrimp is then frozen in a Contact or Blast Freezer, checked for any metal and packed into cartons.
